Lawless Spirits & Kitchen

Happy National Wine Day!! Is it a coincidence that it’s also #ThirstyThursday? I think not! I visited Lawless Spirits & Kitchen located at 909 Texas Ave. Suite 2A Houston, TX 77002 with my Boss Babes! Per their mantra, Lawless provides a unique atmosphere to celebrate life, liberty, and laughter with friends.

Atmosphere

Lawless is located in the historic Rice Hotel and upon entering, a grand carpeted staircase whisks you away reflecting shadows of a different era. The restaurant exudes mystery and glamour, and pays tribute to renegades of their time.

The outdoor terrace has beautiful downtown views and features a pop of color with a cute flower wall. Could this place be anymore breathtaking?

Parking is limited to valet or the nearby parking lots ($10-$12). Save yourself the headache and take an Uber.

Cocina

We ordered several items and without a doubt, the star of their menu is the charcuterie board, it’s so good we ended up ordering two! It comes out on a Texas sized wooden board with yellow and white cheddar cheese, drunken goat cheese, salami, sausage, and a trio of jams. Everyone at the table agreed that the orange spiced jam was the best! It starts off sweet and the heat slowly starts from the back of your pallet but isn’t overly spicy.

The brisket pot stickers come with Thai chili mayo and a soy lime dressing, we devoured those in 2 minutes. The fig & prosciutto flatbread was an all around crowd pleaser. The toppings were generous and it’s perfect for sharing, although I would definitely order it as a meal just for myself. The Caesar wedge is almost too pretty to eat, a nice side dish but definitely not enough to make a meal out of it.

We couldn’t eat all of that without ordering the single dessert on their menu, the white chocolate cheesecake. It’s incredibly rich, and has a unique ginger crust drizzled with a blueberry reduction. We shared it between 4 girls and barely finished it, too full to move at this point.

Cocktails

Their Punch me in the Moonshine is the prettiest cocktail, garnished with fresh basil and a sliced strawberry. Basil is my favorite herb to cook with, in this cocktail it brings out such a fresh taste. Order this.

Their Mexican Standoff is crisp and fragrant. Made with fresh lime juice, and sweetened with agave; a simple margarita requires minimal ingredients, and they’re doing something right here. #margaritasnob

Select wines are kept in mini fridges to keep them at the perfect temperature, a nice touch that didn’t go unnoticed.

Pro Tip: Happy hour is from 4 pm – 7 pm Mon-Sat
$2 off bottles beers
$3 off cocktails, draft beer and wines by the glass
$4 off all food

Lawless is truly a gem, and the longer you stay the more intricate details you seem to notice. Thanks for taking care of us, can’t wait to come back!
