Margarita Snob’s Guide to National Margarita Day 2019

Go for the margs, stay for the sign located at La Cantina, by La Calle.

Sometimes I lay awake at night and wonder why my name couldn’t have been Yadira Tequila, or Yadira Margarita!? I do have a name change coming up so I may add a middle name in the near future! This holiday is a National Holiday in celebration of the beautiful concoction that is derived from limes, agave nectar, a splash of fresh OJ, tequila, and salt. If you add in that simple syrup or weird syrup stuff, kindly get off my page. This isn’t a holiday for rookies, this is for the die hard Margarita Monday Mamacitas of the World. Got it? Today is actually Tuesday, so let’s go with Tequila Tuesday!

National Margarita Day is on February 22nd 2019!

These are the places I recommend based on my personal preference! No we are not going to Chuy’s Becky lol. Hold tight and call an Uber! Vamonos!

1. El Patio AKA Club no Minors.
6444 Westheimer Rd. Houston, TX 77057

The name is exactly what it means, the restaurant has a seated dining area for adults 21+ where you can enjoy your blue margarita in peace. This is truly a judge free zone, I have seen things here and let’s just say they know how to keep the party going. Last year they brought out a mariachi band (not your average quinceañera mariachis) more like a group that sounded great and may have enjoyed some blue margs prior to going on. Expect a fun atmosphere, tequila girls passing shots, and more goodies. The famous blue margs will be flowing and they will be offering HAPPY HOUR ALL DAY LONG!

2. Carcol
2200 Post Oak Bldv. Suite #160 Houston TX, 77056

If you are seeking quality, freshly made margaritas then this is your spot! I recently visited Caracol for a my bachelorette dinner and they made 3 special margaritas for us! If you are looking for a place that offers beautiful margaritas and equally delicious cuisine, I recommend you go here! Guests can enjoy half off the Greatest Margarita Ever Sold & enjoy a special Margarita Tasting Menu!

3. Cyclone Anaya’s
Multiple Houston area locations

This Houston staple is known for their jumbo 21oz margaritas and they have an extensive list to choose from. I once had two of the big ones and let’s just say, 1 tequila, 2 tequilas, 3 tequilas, floor. For National Margarita Day you can have your own house jumbo margarita for $5, the original price from 1978!

4. El Tiempo
Multiple Houston area locations

The odds of having an El Tiempo in your backyard is pretty high! This beloved local restaurant has some of the best fajitas in town and they have their own tequila! I always order two completely different ones. My go to is a frozen strawberry margarita with a floater and a sugar rim. And my second option is a house rita on the rocks with a salted rim. You can’t go wrong with either, just know that they are strong! HH until 7:00 pm!

5. Blanco Tacos and Tequila
5115 Westheimer Rd. Suite C2520 Houston, TX 77056

This trendy restaurant is located inside the Galleria! They instantly became an Instagram sensation with their “Te Amo Tequila” neon sign, if you do not drink just go for the sign. It’s cute, admit it, you want a pic here! They have a fresh twist on Mexican food and per their Insta, will have Classic and Skinny Don Julio margaritas for $5!!

6. Emma’s Mex Grill
5096 Broadway St. Pearland, TX 77581

I went for their Sunday Mexican brunch buffet, yes you read that right! And I couldn’t help but skip the mimosas and try their freshly squeezed margarita! The restaurant is named in honor of their late Grandma Emma, and remains family owned! Perfect family atmosphere with a festive bar in the back. I mean, Moms need a marg too.

7. The Rustic
1836 Polk Street Houston, TX 77003

Since opening its doors in Houston last fall, The Rustic has been an after work destination for downtown folks. Its large indoor and outdoor space is great for groups seeking a casual environment. They are boasting having the largest margarita glass in town! A near five-foot tall, giant rocks margarita glass full of their classic Don Julio Margarita. I mean everything is bigger in Texas!

8. Cuchara
214 Fairview St. Suite #1 Houston, TX 77006

This adorable Mexico City bistro never disappoints me! They make all their margaritas fresh and made to order! Their seasonal coconut margarita is one of the best I have ever had, and this is where I take all of my out of town guests. The food is authentic, and Amado will take excellent care of you at the bar! UPDATE: They will have a flight of 12 margaritas! YES, you read that right, 12!!!

9. Los Cucos
Multiple Houston area locations

Did someone say $7.99 margaritas all day long? Sign me up! I went here with my fiance and we ordered a couple rounds of fresh margaritas, because they were not just good, they were WHY HAVE WE NEVER BEEN HERE BEFORE, DAMNNN GOOD! Get the best bang for your buck here and thank me later. They also have live mariachis on Fridays!

10. El Big Bad
419 Travis St. Houston, TX 77002

El Big Bag is known for throwing the biggest and baddest parties around the block and they are a fab partner with us @houstonlatinabloggers. They infuse their own tequila, and were voted Houston Press Best Margarita 2019! Freshly squeezed margaritas will be $5 ALL DAY, so come rain or shine! Expect live Latin jazz, shots provided by Herradura, and a DJ!

Other notable events going on:
Cantina Barba Block Party!
Eight Row Flint National Marg Day + Go Texan Day
Little Woodrow’s National Marg Day
Pistolero’s National Marg Day
